AUGUST SMA AWARENESS MONTH

In order to raise awareness about SMA disease; August has been declared as SMA awareness month. Early diagnosis and treatment is very important in SMA, which is among the rare diseases.
SMA screening has been included in the newborn screening program in our country so that early diagnosis and treatment can begin as soon as possible. If the expectant mothers and fathers are screened for carrier status and then both couples are carriers, it is possible to prevent the disease with the PGT method.
