REFERRAL CENTERS FOR SMA NEWBORN SCREENING POSITIVE BABIES

Within the scope of the Newborn Screening Program, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) has been added to the screening panel as of 09.05.2022. Heel blood samples to be taken for the Newborn Screening Program in all health units throughout the province are collected at the Provincial Health Directorate and sent to Ankara and Istanbul Screening Laboratories.
Early diagnosis and treatment are of great importance in babies whose Spinal Muscular Atrophy test is positive as a result of the screening test applied to newborn babies. In order to start evaluating the patient's condition as soon as possible, the Centers/Hospitals where the evaluation can be made are shown on the map.
