CONGRATULATIONS TO MERT ATKAYA, WHO RECEIVED AWARD WITH A MEANINGFUL PROJECT THAT CONTRIBUTED TO SMA AWARENESS

A preventable disease Increasing awareness in society is of great importance in reducing the incidence of SMA. Çübecause&uum;; Explaining the role of carrier screening tests in preventing the disease and the problems and expectations of individuals with SMA to more people is one of the critical success factors in the fight against the disease. For this reason, the support provided by not only non-governmental organizations but also sensitive individuals and institutions on this issue is very valuable. In this context, we were both happy and proud of the hopeful news we received.

The awareness project in which dear Mert Çatkaya, who is also a SMA patient, took part, was exhibited at the Exhibition of Successful Examples in Imam Hatip Schools organized by the Ministry of Education. It was selected among 244 applications and came first in the field of Academic Development and Social Activities. The project, in which Mert Çatkaya, who studies at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Anatolian Imam Hatip High School Science and Social Sciences Project School, worked together with his teachers, aims to contribute to the visibility of SMA disease by a wider group of participants.
