Novartis's new treatment for SMA, Itvisma (onasemnogene abeparvovec-brve), which received FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval on November 24, 2025, has also been approved by the EMA (European Medicines Agency). This approval is considered a significant development contributing to the expansion of SMA treatment options.
Itvisma aims to increase mobility and independence in SMA patients by helping to slow the progression of the disease.
