Neuromuscular diseases, which cause many difficulties, especially in walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs, are among the most debilitating disorders affecting daily life. Accurate diagnosis and necessary precautions are crucial in combating this group of diseases, which can affect people of all ages.

In our country, where the frequency of neuromuscular diseases is increasing and which generally manifest as progressive muscle weakness and loss of function, there is a need for treatment centers equipped with expert physicians and necessary equipment that can evaluate all aspects of these diseases. Following the inadequacy of the existing centers in Antalya and İzmir nationwide, the Ministry of Health decided to open centers in 13 more provinces. The fifth of these centers has been opened within the Eskişehir City Hospital. As of January 22, 2020, the Neuromuscular Diseases Center will serve the region on certain days of the week, led by specialists in Pediatric Neurology, Adult Neurology, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, and Pathology, along with experienced physiotherapists. The Neuromuscular Diseases Center located in Eskişehir City Hospital will work in synchronization with the fully equipped physical therapy unit, which serves an average of 400 patients daily, including those from surrounding provinces.
